I am very excited for this “pace” opportunity and look forward to meeting new runners on April 22, 2018.

First, here’s a little about me. I have been married for 13 years. We have two beautiful children ages 11 and 9. My family is my biggest support system when I run. My husband was the first person to introduce me to outdoor running 15 years ago which I found out very quickly was very different from treadmill running. I have been an on/off again runner in the past but became more consistent in the latter part of 2015.

I am a member of the Black Girls Run (BGR) Detroit Chapter, Moms Run This Town (MRTT) Chapter in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR). My running resume: three full marathons, nine half marathons and many 5 and 10k’s. I have participated in Girls on the Run (GOTR) in Kalamazoo and Calhoun County for many years. I have also volunteered as a parent coach for Guys on the Go specific to Arbor Academy Charter School.

My biggest accomplishment as a runner by far was the completion of my second Detroit Free Press Marathon last October where I gained a new personal record of 5:01 (beating my 2013 time by 1:17). I also set a new PR of 2:07:18 in April of this year for my fastest half marathon at the Let’s Move Festival of Races. This will be my second time in the pacer role. I am more than confident that my years of running experience will guide the runners in my designated group to the finish!

I plan to put my best foot forward for the Gazelle Girl to help runners finish their 13.1 race.
